Walk in our shoes

Staggering statistics revealed huge gaps in knowledge about mental health among 9- to 13-year-olds. For the Walk In Our Shoes program, the team created a campaign to prevent stigma from forming in the first place. We wanted to give kids a chance to understand mental health issues by picturing life in someone else’s shoes.

Everyone has a story

Real stories from peers created understanding and empathy among our target of young people. The creative team created animated story videos using recorded audio of a person telling their personal story. We then engaged young artists and animators, pairing their unique styles with each equally unique story, producing a series of videos explaining the challenges each person faced. Each story incorporates hope and solutions to help guide our audience.

Sharing is caring

Hearing from others who may be going through similar mental health challenges spur conversations and increase conversations about mental health. Content created by Disney+ star Sofia Wylie generated 1,081,600 views; 211,900 likes; 2,894 comments and over 1,000 shares.

Foster care help

In Los Angeles County, 1,500 children are removed from their homes each month and put into foster care. To help kids going through this difficult time, we developed the graphic novel “Hero Within.” Packed not only with a compelling story mirroring their own, Hero Within guides kids to local resources, while building back their sense of belonging and self-worth.
